Catch-22 is a 1961 satirical novel by Joseph Heller set during World War II, following Captain John Yossarian, a U.S. Army Air Forces bombardier stationed on the island of Pianosa. Yossarian tries desperately to stay alive by avoiding combat missions, but is trapped by a bureaucratic, circular paradox known as «Catch-22«.
