Our story
In 1978 Margherita Brighenti established a bookshop which provided schoolbooks for the two German schools in Milan (Deutsche Schule Mailand and Istituto Giulia). Over the years the offering grew to include other European languages.
The relocation from house numbers 3 to 11 and the subsequent enlargement of the premises, have resulted in the historic bookshop you see today. Today il libro provides a point of reference for whoever is interested in the teaching and learning of languages.

Our products and services
The 250m2 floor area open to the public offers a bright range of dictionaries and easy readings which accompany the coursebooks for the study of languages. The multilingual staff can provide answers to a variety of questions posed by our customers – national, international, adults and children alike.
il libro offers products for all ages and different levels of learning including coursebooks (for groups and selflearners), dictionaries, and software. The material offered includes all types, from easy readings to unabridged texts, didactic games, linguistic posters, foreign magazines and hand-books.
The bookshop il libro is divided into language areas and has specialist staff able to offer appropriate advice. Each staff member in charge of a language section (English, German, Italian as a second language, French and Spanish) is up-to-date with the latest editorial releases in order to give the best service to our customers.

Events
Literary Circles are organised every month (free entrance). Books are the topic of these events. The meetings start promptly at 7 pm.

Novelties exhibition
Every year in April and May a MOSTRA DIDATTICA takes place in the bookshop. Here teachers can find out about the latest news and innovations from editors and participate in various workshops and presentations by different national and foreign publishers
